The Short Film
Because we believe interaction and teamwork are fundamental in the production of a film, you will be working with 5 other filmmakers during this process.
Together, you will be responsible for creating an original short film production for entry into a local film festival. To be considered for the festival, your film must be 3-5 minutes long.
The lessons presented by Aperture Films are organized so that as you progress in the learning process, you are also actively progressing in your film-making process.
Here you can see the schedule you will be following:
Day 1 - The Film Production Crew
On the first day, you and your group will be learning about the roles of the film production crew. At the end of the lesson, you will be tasked with choosing your group members, organizing your meetings, and choosing roles for each member.
Day 2 - The Art of Screenwriting
On the second day, you will be introduced to the key aspects of developing a story for your film. By learning about narrative structure, you will be able to create a background for you film that includes characters, setting, and important plot elements.
Day 3 - The Video Editing Process
On the third day, you will devote time to learning about the functions of two different video editing softwares in order to be able to edit and finalize your own video project.
Day 4 - The Critical Review
On the fourth and final day, your group will present your original short film at the festival. In addition, you will learn some useful ways to express opinions about films so that you can then write a critical review of another group's original short film.
