Day 3
The Video Editing Process
Your third lesson will teach you how to use the passive voice to give directions as well as introduce you to some useful video editing software to help with finalizing your film.
Warm-up Activity: Pictionary
You will complete this activity with the entire group. The instructor will select a filmmaker to draw a representation of a popular film on the board. The other filmmakers must guess the film without any verbal help from the drawer.
What happened here?
Look at the three shots from some interesting films. These three images recently appeared in the local newspaper. With two other partners, choose one of the shots and write a story about what happened. If you are familiar with one of the films, choose one you do not know. Your article should be 75-100 words and should use the passive voice as much as possible.
When you have finished, visit Grammarly, where you can submit your story for grammar checks.
The Short Film Process
With a partner, put these steps to creating a short film in a logical order. Pay attention to key words that indicate chronology as well as the use of the passive voice.
Homework
Study the flashcards on Quizlet and then classify each adjective in the activity below.
Video Editing Processes
The class will be divided into two groups. Each group will be responsible for learning about one of the two free video editing softwares, Movie Maker and iMovie. Each software has a number of short tutorial videos explaining various processes. Divide the tutorials as evenly as possible between the members of your group. As you watch the videos, write down the instructional process that would be necessary to accomplish the given task using the passive voice. Be prepared to explain your processes to the other group so they can learn about your software.
In addition, take the knowledge you have learned today about video editing to finalize your short film project. When you have finalized the film and are ready to submit it, click continue below.
